Sekuli!

You have just been greeted in the Iroquois native tongue.

And we, the Onondaga Nation Churches Iroquois Choir, wish to warmly greet you.
If you have not heard of us, we are a choir made up of multiple Native American Nations of the Iroquois confederacy, primarily located around the Onondaga Nation, NY. We formed to advance the preservation of the Iroquois language through singing praises to our Creator.

Four Christian churches of the Onondaga Nation are represented by our Choir. We practice and learn to sing Christian hymns in the Oneida language. Impossible? Yes, at first it did seem impossible to catch on to the pronunciation of different words and symbols. However with dedication, perseverance, and a few months of intense practice, we now have a selection of approximately twenty familiar hymns that would grace most any function.

Through invitation, our group has sung for several occasions, including both New York conference and Native camp meetings, the 150th anniversary of the Onondaga Methodist church, several funerals, the Mount Carmel SDA women’s retreat, a local radio station, the Native SDA women’s retreat, and more.
As you may be able to tell, we are very proud of the Lords accomplishments through our efforts both internally and externally. Please join us in praying for God’s blessings as we wish to continue in His service with this wonderful gift.
