Have you sensed a need to activate your talents in the Lord’s work but wondered just what those talents might be? Are you apprehensive to address people on a spiritual level? Is your desire to share your faith growing directly in proportion with your fear of witnessing?
Four church outreach projects have now been developed to better help churches reach out to people of the community as well as local city and government officials. Training and demonstration are made available through the North American Division to provide a witnessing outlet suitable for even the shy and timid.
Don’t turn this opportunity away until you see it in action! It might be just the project you can do comfortably to advance the Lord’s work in your church and community.
Inviting city officials and local business owners to a Community Think-Tank Project is an excellent way to bring first time visitors through the doors of your church. Some questions used to stimulate the thinking process could be:
- What are some responsibilities city government should expect from local churches?
- Do you feel local churches are fulfilling their obligations to the community?
- What can our church do to better interact with local government to meet community needs?
- What can our church do among local businesses to enhance awareness of our willingness to support the community and its people?
- What can the Seventh-day Adventist church do to enhance the wellbeing of the city’s population:
· Economically
· Emotionally
· Spiritually
- Prior to last year did you know about this Seventh-day Adventist church?
- Is our town a better place because of this church?
- What would enhance your opinion of the Seventh-day Adventist church?
By asking an 8-question survey, you find out what activities people in your community would attend. You then have the option of having the results published in your local newspaper.
